Sambit Panda - what you need to know about this international emerging Indian Contemporary artist
 
Cultural identities: Urbanisation, Remains of Society, Misuse of information,Flies, Flip Flops, Fake News, Honey Bees, Birds, Gods, Lions and Lockdowns
 
Sambit Panda’s ouevre consists of his observations of the effects and relationships between modern societies and the environment usually without the inclusion or participation of the human form within the work.  His view of the world takes on a guru like perspective in vivid surreal dreamscapes of alternate realities that are ultimately profound cries of distress and real warning signs alongside minimalistic reportage style paintings equally depicting contemporary  concerns of impending environmental disasters underpinned by unconditional love for all of creation.
 
 
These one off master canvases of oil, acrylic and mixed media are executed with restraint somehow managing a non judgemental technique and palette that serves as a polite invitation to engage the viewer into a compelling dialogue of a truth and a sense of harmony regardless of ethnicity, class or belief system. 
 
From everyday domestic settings rendered profound yet with humour to mythological scenarios juxtaposed with the greed of the remains of society and its urbanisation avoiding the all too easily obvious path and allure of cynicism and blame. 
 
Drawing on the nexus of diverse literature, cross religious belief systems, spiritualism, Indian and Contemporary modern masters from the likes of M.F Husain, K.G. Subramanyam alongside the inspiration of Duchamp, Dali with elements of Max Ernst, Sambit Panda has only just begun to unravel his myriad of abilities across media.

Short Bio
 
Born in 1976 in Odisha,India, Sambit Panda did his M.F.A. in History of Art, National Museum Institute, New Delhi in 2006 and BFA from B K College of Art, Bhubaneswar Utkal University of Culture in 2003. 
 
He has had several solo exhibitions including February-March Solo Show at Tagore Centre, Berlin, Germany, 2012; December- Solo Show at Nehru Centre, London,UK, 2011; Sacred Thread atAnant Art Gallery, New Delhi, 2009,insight at Anant Art Gallery New Delhi,India  and more. 
 
He has participated in numerous group exhibition both nationally and internationally. His recent group participations include DOES 2020 MATTER?, curated group show at Lalit Kala Akedmi,New Delhi, 2020; Experiments with TRUTH, a group show on 150th Birth year of Gandhi jiand his philosophy at Rastriyalalit kala Kendra,Bhubaneswar, 2019; Art For Concern, Concern India Foundation at Gallery Roman Ronald, New Delhi, 2018 and many more. Panda has received many prestigious awards including ‘ChitranadiSanman’, Kalahandi Collectorate& Culture Dept. in 2011, ‘YubvaPratibha Award’, MSA.Bhawanipatna,Odisha in 2010, and ‘CHITRASILPI SANMAN’ from Kalahandi Utsav, Kalahandi in 2009 to name a few.
 
His works are in collections around the world and he has participated and organized many workshops and seminars over the years. The artist lives and works in New Delhi. as of October 9th he is represented by Dennis Da Silva / Arthertz.
